THERE will be no motorsport races at Cheshire's Oulton Park race track until at least May, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A statement put out by the Little Budworth circuit's owners Motorsport Vision (MSV) has today (Tuesday, March 17) confirmed it will postpone any motorsport race meetings planned for any of its circuits in the UK.

It follows Government guidelines aimed at increasing social isolation and reducing mass gatherings, and that emergency services that would have been deployed for these events are to be prioritised in alleviating pressure on public services.

Events which are postponed include the British GT and Formula 3 Championship package meeting, which was scheduled for the Easter weekend on April 11-13, the BRSCC Fun Cup day on Saturday, March 28 and the BARC Club Car Championships on Saturday, April 4.

Also postponed are the NG Road Racing Club Bike Championships which were due to be held on Saturday, April 18 and the Wirral 100 Club Bike Championships scheduled for Saturday, April 25.

Currently, the first motorsport race event on Oulton Park's 2020 calendar that would go ahead would be the British Superbike Championship on May 1-3, which would be the first round for that championship.

An MSV statement reads: "In the circumstances MotorSport UK, the MCRCB and the ACU have taken the decision to suspend all motorsport events until at least the end of April, a decision which will be kept under review as the situation progresses.

"We fully support that position and therefore confirm that we will be postponing all race events at our circuits due to take place in March and April.

"We are working with organisers to arrange new calendars for series including British Superbikes and Touring Cars for later in the year, when we hope restrictions will be lifted.

"We will post regular updates and further information.

"In the event a race meeting is postponed, all tickets will be valid for the rescheduled event. If you let us know that you can't make the rescheduled date, you will get a refund.

"If a race meeting is cancelled entirely and not rescheduled, you will automatically get a refund. We will review the effect on season pass holders throughout the season and ensure that any significant loss of entitlement is managed fairly.

"We hope that this approach will provide total comfort and reassurance to our customers.

"However, should you need to contact us for any other reason you can email activities@msv.com. Please note there may be a delay of up to 48 hours before you receive a reply. "
