A CHESTER university building has suspended activity due to coronavirus-related concerns.

The University of Chester has confirmed that two of its sites – Riverside in Chester and the University Centre Shrewsbury in Frankwell, Shrewsbury – have been affected, with the Riverside building closed to students.

The adjacent Riverside Innovation Centre remains open.

A University of Chester spokesperson said: “Due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19, the university announced last night [Sunday, March 15] that it would be suspending activities at two sites (Riverside in Chester, and University Centre Shrewsbury), as a precautionary measure between now and the end of term on Friday (March 20).

"In Chester, the Riverside Building is closed to students. Staff will be given access today [Monday, March 16] if required.

"Students and staff have been contacted and arrangements made to replace face-to-face with online learning. Staff have been advised to work from home.

"The Riverside Innovation Centre will remain open.”
