THREE men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 31-year-old man died following a "disturbance" in Ellesmere Port.

Officers were called to Pooltown Road at 8.46pm last night (March 14).

A statement released by Cheshire Police said: "Officers swiftly attended the scene to find a 31-year-old man with serious injuries.

"He was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital and has since sadly died.

"Three men – two aged 25 and one aged 35 – have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They are currently in custody assisting police with the investigation.

"Enquiries are ongoing in the local area and anyone with any information is urged to come forward."

Detective Inspector Paul Hughes, from the force’s Major Investigation Team, said: "I would like to reassure the local community that, at this stage, this appears to be an isolated incident and we are doing everything we can to establish the exact circumstances of what has happened.

“Officers remain in the area and anyone with any concerns is urged to speak to an officer. If you have any information, which could assist our ongoing enquiries, please call 101 quoting IML 660846.”
