A MAIN road on the outskirts of Chester will be closed overnight after a bridge was struck by a vehicle.
In order to repair the grade ll listed sandstone bridge on the A41 at Milton Green, near Chester, the busy road will be closed on a number of nights next month.
The night closures will be on March 4 and 5 and are also planned from March 16 to 28, from 7pm in the evening until 5.30am in the morning.
The signed diversion route will send traffic towards Nantwich via the A51, and A534. The section of the A49 between Ridley and Tarporley has a low bridge at Beeston/Tiverton (4.3m, 14ft 3in).
Councillor Karen Shore, deputy leader and cabinet member for environment, highways and strategic transport, said: “The closures are necessary because the road is too narrow for the work to be carried out safely using lane closures only. We apologise for any inconvenience these closures cause.”
