POLICE are appealing for information after a man and a woman were taken to hospital with serious injuries following a collision in Ellesmere Port on Monday night (February 24).

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service was called out to the collision between a white Vauxhall Combo van and a black Nissan Pixo car on the A550 Welsh Road, near to Two Mills, at 7.53pm.

A man was safely removed from the van by firefighters and a woman was extricated from the car.

The woman was handed into the care of paramedics with injuries believed to be serious.

A full road closure was put in place.

Crews remained at the scene for approximately one hour and 45 minutes.

A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said both the man and woman were taken to Aintree Hospital.

A rapid response vehicle, two ambulances and a community paramedic were among the vehicles deployed to the scene.

Now police officers are appealing for witnesses who saw the incident and/or had dashcam footage to come forward following the serious collision on A550 near to Two Mills.

Sergeant Helen Cooper of the Roads Policing Unit said: “Enquiries into the collision are ongoing and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information which may help our investigation.

“We are also eager to hear from anyone who may have caught dashcam footage of the vehicles on the lead up to the collision to come forward.”
