A HOUSING developer has raised more than £25,000 for children's charity Alder Hey, after being named the firm's charity of the year for 2019.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West, raised the cash over the course of 2019 in a variety of fundraising activities which staff were involved in, including a charity golf day, a raffle, and a weekly collection at its head office.

Employees at the company also took part in two long distance bike rides for the charity, one of which took place in August and another taking place in September of last year.

Those included in the challenges cycled to a number of the housebuilder’s developments in Cheshire and Merseyside, before reaching the finish line at its head office in Warrington.

The donation was given through a cheque presentation at the charity’s base, with Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West’s planning director, Andrew Taylor and Ellie Freestone, corporate fundraising officer at Alder Hey, in attendance.

She said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff who put so much effort into fundraising over the last year. The money raised by Barratt and David Wilson Homes North West will help us to continue to fund activities and projects that are designed to enhance and improve the lives of our young patients.”

Alder Hey Children’s Charity helps to fund a range of activities and projects designed to enhance and improve the lives of its patients, including funding specialist medical equipment, hi-tech distraction equipment as well as special projects such as musicians, magicians and play specialists on all wards.

Andrew Taylor added: “We are delighted to announce that we have raised £25,878 over the course of 2019 for Alder Hey through various fundraising activities.

“Alder Hey is an incredible cause close to our hearts and we are happy that as a company we have challenged ourselves over the past year in order to raise money for the valuable work they do.

“It is a pleasure to know that all our staff have managed to make a difference, no matter how big or small, in helping this charity progress even further, and we can’t wait to see more of the great work Alder Hey achieves in the future.”
