GOOD causes in Chester have the chance to share £10,000 via a new community fund.

Introduced to coincide with the launch of Redrow Homes’s King’s Moat Garden Village development, off Wrexham Road, Chester, the fund will provide donations and sponsorship to a variety of local organisations.

Since 2016, Redrow has gifted more than £100,000 to community projects across the North West via voluntary community funds linked to its new homes developments.

A previous fund in Huntington saw local initiatives share a total of £10,000.

Organisations that have already been helped include Huntington Village Hall, the local primary school, scouts and guides, Bishops’ Bluecoat High School, St Luke’s Church and different social clubs helping the elderly and adults with learning difficulties

Jason Newton, sales director for Redrow Homes (NW), said: “The idea behind our community funds is to celebrate the communities where we’re building by giving something back. It’s a great way to find out more about what’s happening locally and to ensure that as the neighbourhood grows it continues to thrive.

“In and around Chester we’ve already helped all ages, from children’s groups to schemes combatting loneliness amongst older people.

"Now we’re on the search for a whole new set of equally valuable good causes, this time as close as possible to our brand new King’s Moat Garden Village development.”

Applications are invited from local schools, charities, community groups and individuals.

Jason added: “Rather than make one or two large grants, we would prefer to support a variety of projects with a series of smaller donations.

"Priority will also be given to those helping people in the vicinity of our development, or close by, so people should bear this in mind when making their applications."

The voluntary fund is in addition to Redrow’s statutory obligations linked to the King’s Moat Garden Village joint venture, which will include a new school, healthcare facilities and affordable homes.

Redrow is set to build around 60 per cent of the planned homes over time.

Application forms for the King’s Moat Garden Village Community Fund can be downloaded from the Redrow website at www.redrow.co.uk/promo/kings-moat-community-fund.

The deadline for nominations is midnight on March 6, 2020.
