A FLOOD warning has been issued for parts of Chester.

The Government's Flood Information Service has published the warning on its website and says riverside properties from Grosvenor Bridge to The Groves could be affected.

It comes as Storm Ciara continues to affect the area.

It said: "The high tide is expected to be higher than usual at Chester Weir as a result of high spring tides and strong winds.

"Consequently flooding of property is possible between 12.45 and 1.15pm today [Monday, February 10].

"We believe there is a possibility of flooding for riverside properties from Grosvenor Bridge to the Groves.

"Peak levels will be lower than the flooding in January 2014. Coastal conditions are expected to continue until after the high tides at 1.30pm on Tuesday, February 11 at Chester Weir.

"We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring weather forecasts and river levels and will issue (further) flood warnings if necessary.

"Please be careful along coastal footpaths and roads."
