THE A41 ring road in Chester has reopened following an earlier collision.

Cheshire Police said that a car collided with a broken down vehicle between the A56 Warrington Road (Hoole roundabout) to A51 Tarvin at around 10.30am this morning.

A grey Audi and a white Hyundai were the two vehicles involved in the collision, with the driver of the latter – a woman in her 70s – being treated at the scene by paramedics.

The driver of the white Hyundai was then taken to the Countess of Chester hospital for further treatment.

Traffic built up in the area following the incident when Cheshire Police closed the A41 for a couple of hours before reopening it at around 12.40pm.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called at around 10.40am to the A41 today (Thursday 6 February) following reports of a collision involving a grey Audi and white Hyundai.
