A 52-year-old man was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries after being hit with a hammer during an attack in Rock Ferry.

Detectives have released CCTV footage of a man they believe may have information following the suspected targeted assault on Wednesday January 15.

At around 6pm that day, a report was received of entry being gained to a property on New Chester Road and a 52-year-old man being seriously assaulted.

He was treated for multiple injuries to his head and body.

An investigation is underway.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Nilsen, said: "We would like to speak to the man pictured as he may have information to assist our enquiries.

"This is a very serious assault which included the use of a hammer striking to the victim's head, leaving him with multiple injuries.

"If you recognise the man pictured, please come forward to us, directly or anonymously, and we will take positive action and out those responsible for this serious violence before the courts."
