A TEENAGER was attacked in Ellesmere Port by a group of men - with one believed to have been armed with a hammer.
Detectives have launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward after the 16-year-old boy was assaulted in Cambridge Road.
Officers were called to the park near Cambridge Road.
The victim sustained a cut and bruises during the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been released.
Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault or has any information, which could help with their enquiries, to come forward.
Detective Constable Steven Marsland, of Ellesmere Port CID, said: “Clearly an incident like this will cause concern in the local community and I want to reassure residents that we are doing everything we can to track down those responsible and bring them to justice.
“I would urge anyone who has any information or concerns to speak to a local officer.
“If you were in the park around the time of the incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously I would urge you to get in touch with us."

The attack too place at about 4.15pm on Sunday, January 12.
