MOTORISTS are being urged to plan their journey after a crash has closed part of the M56.

Traffic reports show that a crash involving a car and broken down vehicle has resulted in a three lane closure on the motorway heading Eastbound.

Two lanes have been opened but there is still heavy traffic in the area.

Traffic will affect motorists heading into and out of Wales.

The Motorway Police tweeted: "M56 eastbound between junction 15 and 14 we have reports of an RTC. Highways are at scene and police are en route. Also debris at the same location on the westbound carriageway. Please take care if in area."

It is believed the collision, between J15 and J14 was caused by a car spinning after hitting a patch of standing water.

One lane on the Westbound carriageway is also closed due to debris on the floor.
