FIREFIGHTERS were called to an incident after a fire broke out in a prison.
A spokesman for the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called at 3.13pm to a fire at HMP Berwyn.
Two appliances from Wrexham attended the scene but the fire was out upon arrival.
The spokesman added that it was caused by a 'small amount of paper being ignited'.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We had a call at approximately 3.18pm to reports of a fire at Wrexham’s HMP Berwyn but were not required to attend."
A Prison Service spokesman added: “A small cell fire set by two prisoners at HMP Berwyn was quickly extinguished by staff this morning. There is no damage, no one was injured and the prisoners have been placed on report.”
