SATURDAY was a perfect day for a magnificent seven Denbigh Harriers.

They ran the Buff Winter Trail Half Marathon in Coed y Brenin.

The 13.5-mile course was a mixture of forestry tracks and narrow wooded footpaths, which was both undulating and slippery in place, with 2,200 feet of climbing.

There was an amazing run by Brett Jones to finish 13th out of a field of 626 finishers in a time of 1-39.58.

This was great preparation for the Grisedale Marathon in a fortnight.

Melina Morris was the second F40 in 1-58.29, while Menai Baugh just missed out on a category win.

Her time of 2-31.07 was enough to finish second in the F60 category.

Elsewhere, David Baugh triumphed in his M60 category with a time of 1-53.47.

There were also gutsy performances from Roger Snaith, Anwen Brown and David Spencer, who were all feeling under the weather.

In the Pier to Pier 10k race from Llandudno to Colwyn Bay, there were five Denbigh Harriers taking part.

There was a superb run from Catherine Tudor Jones to finish as the ninth woman and second F35 in 42.25).

Fred Jones (46.45) won his second North Wales gold medal by claiming the M65 category.

Dawn Marshall was really happy with her time of 1-00.40 after coming back from a four-week bout of flu.
