FIREFIGHTERS from three towns helped extinguish a fire in Wem on Saturday.

The fire was reported shortly before 7pm on Saturday, January 18 at property in Cordwell Park, Wem.

Fire crews from Hodnet, Prees and Wem were sent to tackle the blaze, and an operations officer and fire investigation officer were in attendance.

Crews used breathing apparatus, a hosereel jet and small gear to tackle the fire, which was on the first floor of a domestic terraced property.

A dog was also rescued by fire service personnel.

The fire was extinguished just before 7.30pm.
