A Flint school girl who is suffering from a life-threatening condition will take on a starring role next week when she officially opens Hope House Children’s Hospices bright new charity shop on the Flintshire Retail Park.

Ten-year-old Evie Davies, who attends Ysgol Pen Coch Specialist Primary School, has been visiting Ty Gobaith Children’s Hospice since she was a baby.

“Going to Ty Gobaith was the best thing that ever happened to us,” says her mum Linda. “We were really nervous and scared but from the minute we walked through the door the nurses welcomed us all with love and expertise.

“They have the skills to cope with Evie’s complex condition and are brilliant at looking after the rest of us too. We are so grateful to Ty Gobaith for everything they do. They are amazing.”

The new hospice shop, which is between Poundland and Farmfoods, is Hope House and Ty Gobaith’s 15th store in the region. It will play a vital part in helping to raise funds to ensure the hospices can offer care and support to every local terminally ill child and their family.

Retail Manager Angela Whelan explained: “Hope House and Ty Gobaith already have huge support in this area and we want this store to become a community hub for supporters, donors and customers alike.

“Together our stores already raise £750,000 every year which directly funds nursing care and support for children like Evie, but we need to raise even more if we are able to help every child and family who need our services.”

The Flint shop will be selling everything from fashion for all the family, to ornaments and homeware, and plenty for children including clothing and toys, and will be delighted to receive any donations of stock.

“We are also looking for volunteers to join our lovely team, including sales advisors, shop floor merchandisers, fashion processors and people who have a specific interest in vintage items and books, along with anyone who would like to help keep our shop clean and tidy and who really likes meeting new people,” added Angela.

Anyone who would like to find out more about volunteering or donating stock can contact the Flint shop direct on 01352 733485 or pop in to see the team.
