PUPILS at a Chester performing arts school were on point as they all celebrated success following recent exams.

Students at the Travis Academy of Performing Arts, Chester, triumphed in the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet examinations, with everyone passing.

In addition, several students received awards of Distinction and high Merit.

Success ran in the family for four separate sets of sisters, with 16-year-old Aurora Navas who received an award of Distinction along with her younger sister Oriana Navas, seven.

Other successful siblings were Lucia and Elisa Aikman, Ksenia and Sophia Mangan and twins Darcey and Ilya Beddows.

Local ballet teacher Kathryn Travis, an RAD graduate and registered teacher, organised the exams which took place in Upton Village Hall, Chester.

Miss Travis has taught hundreds of children from the local and surrounding areas of Chester and was instrumental in the Upton Village Hall gaining Approved Examination Centre status for RAD ballet exams.

Founded in 1920, the Royal Academy of Dance is one of the world’s most influential dance education organisations, setting the standard in classical ballet.

RAD ballet exams are highly regarded and accredited by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual).

Dame Morgot Fonteyn was president of the RAD from 1954 to 1991. Its current president is Dame Darcey Bussell.
