YOUNGSTERS across Chester are being invited to learn Mandarin for free, thanks to a city school.
As part of The Queen's School's outreach programme, a weekly Mandarin Club is on offer to boys and girls in Year 5 from any school.
The club starts on Tuesday, January 21, so parents are being encouraged to sign their children up quickly to avoid disappointment.
The club enables children from a wide range of backgrounds to enjoy the challenge of learning an exciting language. Activities include language learning, dance, music, crafts and learning about Chinese celebrations and culture.
The Queen’s School is a designated Confucius Classroom, a coveted accolade awarded in recognition of its work in promoting the study of Mandarin.
Lucy Whittam, Head of Mandarin at The Queen’s School, said: "We very much believe that learning a new language can, and should be fun. As one of the world’s most widely spoken languages, our Mandarin Club is a great opportunity for your child to try something new and is completely free as part of our commitment to limitless learning."
