CHESTER residents looking to slim down after the excesses of Christmas may need to postpone their diet plans as city centre eateries are hosting dozens of special offers this month.

The second CH1 Chester Food & Drink Week, which takes place from January 18-26, has already doubled in size since its successful launch last year.

There are more than 40 offers, discounts and experiences to try, at restaurants, cafes and bars throughout Chester.

From award-winning independents to favourite chains, deals to tempt the taste buds include: 50 per cent off your food bill at the Coach House on Town Hall Square; a £5 lunch deal at Slug & Lettuce on Bridge Street; as well as a two-course lunch with a glass of Taittinger Champagne at the iconic Grosvenor Brasserie for £25 per person.

Over in Music Hall Passage, the team at award-winning Chef’s Table is already raiding its kitchen garden for the best herbs, flowers and vegetables to create a mouth-watering menu for ‘Veganuary’.

Bella Italia on Eastgate Street, Carluccio’s on Bridge Street, All Bar One on Newgate Street and The Botanist on Godstall Lane are also offering special ‘Veganuary’ fare.

Organised by CH1ChesterBID, which was established in 2014 to deliver a vibrant and successful Chester city centre, the CH1 Chester Food & Drink Week is now in its second year providing a boost for restaurants, bars and cafes.

Marketing and events manager of CH1ChesterBID Emily Ghazarian said: “CH1 Chester Food & Drink Week is all about celebrating what the city does best and there are more than 40 offers and experiences available to choose from – twice as many as last year!

“January is traditionally a time to grab a bargain in the sales, but it’s also a great time of the year to try a new cuisine and to take time out from cooking without breaking the bank.

"We are delighted that so many city centre businesses are taking part offering massive discounts, diverse dishes and unique experiences.”

Dave Poynton, operations manager of the Pied Bull in Northgate Street, said: "January has already kicked off to a great start as people head in to Chester for the sales.

"What's great about our city is that you never have far to wander between coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and then dinner.

“We look forward to welcoming our loyal customers and new visitors during CH1 Chester Food & Drink Week this year.”
