One person has been left fighting for their life following a serious collision in Wrexham.

Police said two others sustained serious injuries in the incident which occurred at 3.29am on Sunday on the A525 in Horseman’s Green, near Penley.  

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene, using thermal imaging equipment to search the area for casualties. 

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 3.32am to a road traffic collision on the A525 at Horseman's Green.

"Three emergency ambulances and one rapid response vehicle attended.

"Three patients were conveyed - two to Wrexham Maelor Hospital and one to the Countess of Chester Hospital."

The road was closed until 11am on Sunday and police are now appealing for witnesses.

Sgt Nikki Grimes-Williams of the Roads Policing Unit said: “The investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this collision and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have been travelling on the A525 between Whitchurch and Horseman’s Green at around 3am this morning.

"We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a silver BMW X3 travelling along this stretch of road, and in particular those who may have any dash cam footage.”
