A 23-YEAR-OLD woman has appeared at Chester Magistrates Court today (Friday, January 3), charged with false imprisonment, criminal damage and affray.

Ashleigh Oldfield appeared before magistrates via videolink from custody in Chester, speaking only to confirm her name, address and date of birth.

Prosecuting, Sarah Egan said the charges related to an incident at Lloyds Guest House, Brook Street, at about 7.10am on Thursday, January 2, and requested that Oldfield be remanded in custody until her next court appearance.

Oldfield is accused of the false imprisonment of Colin Edwards, criminal damage to a window at the guest house, and affray.

The incident saw armed police attend and a cordon being set up along Brook Street and Station Road.

Defending, Steve Coupe made a bail application on behalf of Oldfield.

Magistrates agreed Oldfield should be bailed, on condition she does not enter Lloyds Guest House or Brook Street between the mini-roundabout junction and the junction with Francis Street, and for her to reside at her address each night.

A separate application made by the prosecution for non-contact between Oldfield and Mr Edwards was rejected.

Oldfield will next appear at Chester Crown Court on Friday, January 31, for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
