A PRIVATE security firm has been hired an attempt to quell anti-social behaviour at high-rise flats in Flintshire.

Flintshire Council has employed the firm after issues at Bolingbroke Heights in Flint - one of three high rise flats in the town.

Cllr Ian Roberts, leader of Flintshire Council, said he had been made aware of issues of large groups loitering around garages at the flats.

He said the members of the group had been causing considerable distress amongst the flats' residents.

The firm visits the building and patrols garages, and will move large groups on from the premises.

Cllr Roberts said: "As a council there was a discussion before Christmas and we felt it's not right that residents were having to put up with this.

"We have a new door entry system in Bolingbroke which has been damaged - which is one of the reasons the security firm was employed.

"The vast majority of residents in the flats are shocked by what's going on.

"We will work with the good residents to ensure their quality of life, and we will protect the rights of our tenants to live peacefully."

Cllr Roberts added that cameras are in operation at the flats, and perpetrators of anti-social behaviour, if caught, will face prosecution.
