A REVAMPED sports club is to throw open its doors for an open day this month.

The Cheshire County Sports Club's open day on Saturday, January 11 will allow visitors to see the latest improvements to the facilities including the fitness suite and studio.

They can test the equipment, see some sample classes in action between 10am and 4pm and speak to staff about memberships.

Local celebrities, charities and fitness experts will be on hand to discuss how new year resolutions can be turned into action. There will be free refreshments and entertainment for children to enjoy.

Manager of The Cheshire County Sports Club Andrew Chandler said: “The number one resolution this new year is to get fit and healthy, we offer the opportunity to do this.

"Many local residents have been coming to The Cheshire over the years and have fond memories of its vast sports facilities and traditional social areas. The open day is a chance to refresh their views, see what we have to offer now.

"As a not for profit organisation we have invested our profits back into developing various facilities over the past 17 years to meet the needs and demand of our users and the wider community, including the County Lounge, synthetic pitches and of course the Clubhouse that was opened by Michael Owen and Lucy Meacock.

"We have now invested in our fitness facilities to offer the best value option for people to get fit.

"Classes in the studios include spin cycling, body pump, balance and combat with Les Mills, circuits, hoola hoop, metafit, boxercise, boogie bounce, yoga and zumba, and the studio is also available for private hire.

"The air-conditioned Fitness Suite is fully equipped with cardio vascular and resistance equipment, as well as functional training equipment.

"The club offers a welcoming environment where everyone, at every level of fitness, can feel comfortable. Friendly staff are always on hand to provide new member inductions or on-going fitness advice when needed.”

Fitness@TheCheshire annual membership starts from £15 per month (concession membership) but people can also ‘pay as you go’.

The Fitness Suite and the studio are located in the main building on Plas Newton Lane.
