EAGLE-EYED staff at Ellesmere Port Market came to the rescue following reports of a missing person.

Merseyside Police asked for help on the afternoon of Monday, December 16, sharing an alert for a confused elderly lady who had previously gone missing earlier in the month and on that occasion she had travelled to Ellesmere Port.

She had left a Liverpool hospital at 10am that morning.

A photo of the missing person was shared with the Ellesmere Port Market team who immediately began a search.

Market supervisor Dave Brown confirmed within a few minutes that they had found the lady and comforted her with a cup of tea until help arrived.

Merseyside Police passed on their thanks for the speedy response.

Councillor Louise Gittins, leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, added her thanks.

She said: “The quick actions of our staff meant the lady was found in minutes and received the medical help she needed. We’ve been told Ellesmere Port Market was a place she felt safe. Well done to all involved.”

Mr Brown confirmed: “The lady told me she visited the market most days. I have checked with her family that she is ok after the activities on Monday.”
