CHESHIRE Wildlife Trust is rolling out its flagship campaign for Christmas.

The 30 Days Wild challenge normally runs throughout June and encourages people to make the most of summer by getting out and about in nature.

This year, the challenge takes on a new twist in the form of The Twelve Days of Wild Christmas. The core message from the challenge is that spending time in nature can make you happier and healthier, and that is just as true in winter as it is in summer.

The Trust is calling on people to undertake twelve “Random Acts of Wildness” over the festive season.

They can be as simple as watching a bird from a window, taking a walk in the park or as adventurous as exploring a new wild place.

It is the perfect companion to a busy festive period, the chance to take some time to slow down and reconnect with nature.

James Melling, Campaigns Officer for Cheshire Wildlife Trust, said: “Although the days are shorter and the weather is colder, we want to remind people that the natural world still has so much to offer even in winter. Winter is an exciting time filled with frosty mornings, stunning sunrises and flocks of birds filling the skies. We want to help people to rediscover that sense of childlike awe when being outside was the norm whatever the weather.”

To provide a little mid-winter inspiration, one Random Act of Wildness a day will be featured on the Trust’s social media pages from Christmas Day until the fifth of January. Whether it’s five minutes watching the birds, with a mug of hot chocolate, or digging out the winter coat for an afternoon exploring a local nature reserve, Cheshire Wildlife Trust calls on everyone to embrace The Twelve Days of Wild Christmas.
