A CHESTER fundraiser has successfully completed an epic, 116-day walk from Blacon to Rome in support of a community boxing club.

Bradley Lloyd of Blacon set off on June 13 from Blacon, arriving at his destination in Rome on October 10.

He tackled the incredible feat by walking from Blacon to Canterbury, following canals, cycle routes and national trails.

From Canterbury, he joined the official pilgrimage route called the Via Francigena which goes from Canterbury to Rome.

Crossing through France, Switzerland (over the Alps) and then down through Italy, Bradley walked around 2,000 miles in total, in all sorts of terrain and all sorts of crazy weather.

Bradley, a member of Blacon Boxing Club, did it to help raise funds for the Blacon sports zone project which will house the boxing club in a brand new sports hub at Blacon High School.

The community has got behind the project, which would open the door for dance gymnastics karate and lots of other sports and fitness activities to be housed at the hub.

Bradley isn't putting his feet up yet though, and is already planning on walking from Cardiff to Conwy via the long-distance trail route the Cambrian Way, a feat he is aiming to tackle next spring.
