POLICE have assured members of the public that a dog running loose on the M56 this morning is safe and well.
There was slow traffic on the motorway this morning after a dog was reported on the carriageway between the M56 westbound to the M53 northbound.
Traffic was already heavy after a collision resulted in one lane being blocked on the M56 eastbound from the Lymm Interchange to Junction Seven for the A556 Chester Road.
Social media users were keen to know about the dog's welfare.
At 11.18am, North West Motorway Police tweeted: "Quick update for those asking; The dog was safely captured by the owner and taken off the network."
