A MUSIC bar in the town centre is considering closure due to a lack of footfall.

The owners of Retros Music Bar revealed that they were thinking of closing in a social media post, in which they said that ‘being honest is the right thing to do’.

The reason behind their consideration is due to a lack of support and ideas after four years on High Street.

And they are now asking the people of Northwich whether there is still a need for them to be a part of the town.

A post on the store’s Facebook page read: “After four years of trading in Northwich, we are now considering closing due to the lack of footfall and support.

“We know no other business has probably been this honest before, but we are starting to run out of ideas on how to keep the bar running.

“Do the people of Northwich still think we have a need for Retros to be part of the town?

“We believe being honest with our customers is the right thing to do.

“Please let us know what you think and try and show your support where you can”

One comment on the post suggested acquiring the former Madison’s club, which would have more space for people to dance, and the introduction of themed nights based around northern soul and indie music.

They added: “I am surprised to hear this though as every time I've been, it’s crazy busy and almost feels too full.”

In response, Retros said: “We have tried so many things - rock, northern soul and indie - people don't seem that interested at the moment, and we have tried for Madison’s for two years without success.”

Other commenters stated their shock at the post and replied with hope that the bar will remain open.

One said: “I’m really gutted to read this post and sincerely hope that things turn around and you get the footfall and support you very much and richly deserve.”

Another added: “It's the only place where you can go for a dance to great music and a good laugh in a great atmosphere with lovely staff.”
