A 15-YEAR-OLD schoolboy from Chester has pleaded guilty to stabbing a 14-year-old from the city.

The attack happened in Handbridge Road, Handbridge, near the Old Dee Bridge at about 3pm on Thursday, June 20.

The 15-year-old was arrested shortly after as a police cordon was set up around the area.

Neither the attacker nor the victim can be identified for legal reasons.

The victim was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital via an ambulance with serious injuries. He was later transferred to Alder Hey Children's Hospital before being discharged.

The 15-year-old attacker was originally charged with attempted murder and a trial was due to take place at Chester Crown Court in the week beginning November 25.

But the court has confirmed the 15-year-old has pleaded guilty to the lesser, but still serious, charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, a plea which has been accepted by the Crown Prosecution Service.

The case has been adjourned for reports and the 15-year-old will be sentenced at Chester Crown Court on Friday, November 29.
