STEPH Blackwell, finalist in 2019’s The Great British Bake Off will be signing copies of the show's new book at Waterstones, Chester, at 12noon on Saturday.

Steph, 28, will be signing copies of The Great British Bake Off: The Big Book of Amazing Cakes in the Eastgate Street bookshop.

Viewers saw bookies' favourite Steph lose out in the final to David Atherton who stunned judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith with his showstopper picnic.

Chester's Steph, who was named star baker a record-equalling four times, was reduced to tears by her surprising dip in form.

Fans were moved by her sloppy souffles and a showstopper which failed to impress, but earned a hug from Paul Hollywood.

Steph was reduced to tears, saying "I just feel a bit stupid" after her own effort collapsed into liquid, and was given a hug by Hollywood after her showstopper was badly received.

She received a conciliatory cuddle from Hollywood, who told her "it doesn't matter" after criticising her own final offering.

Steph’s grandad got her baking with his love of homemade bread. She’s always loved making a mess in the kitchen, but she has been baking with a vengeance for the past three or so years. She is primarily self-taught and considers herself an ‘intermediate, still-learning’ baker. Steph lives in Chester with her mum, and her passion for sports and wellness inspires her baking: she enjoys the challenge of making her bakes healthier, adding vegetables or fruits, lowering the refined sugar content and prioritising more nutritional fats. Bread is Steph’s favourite and her signature bake is a sourdough loaf using her starter, which she calls ‘Sammy’.
