A MUM and owner of a Tarporley-based designer women's clothing brand is to host a fundraiser in aid of the Chester hospital which looked after her prematurely born baby.

Sally Ellis, the owner of Sve fashion, gave birth to baby Svea at only 31 weeks at the Countess of Chester Hospital last year.

The neonatal unit for premature babies stepped in and took Svea, who is now 18 months old, to care for at such a critical time in her first hours in the world.

Sally said: "I was overwhelmed by the support, care and attention to detail from all the nurses on the ward to make sure Svea was growing in the correct way, monitoring her day and night over four weeks in their care.

"Not only did they care for Svea, they also were a huge support to me, a new mum who was travelling back and to from work everyday to feed her new-born baby."

Sally's friend Haley Brooks also gave birth to a premature baby a few months later – a boy named Alfred – and they were also treated at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Sally will be hosting a charity fashion show on Sunday, December 8 at Willington Hall, Willington, to raise money and show support to the Neonatal Unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital, as a thank you from all of the mums and babies they have helped.

She said: "I want people to know that one bad press article on one nurse doesn’t count for all the nurses and the ward, I want to let everyone know how amazing they all were and there needs to be more awareness and funding to help towards the new ward build, so they can continue to save babies' lives, just like they did with Svea and Alfred."

The charity event is a ticket-only event, running from 4pm on Sunday, December 8.

The event will feature live entertainment, a Sve fashion catwalk show, raffle prizes and gift stalls.
