AN investigation has been launched into the cause of a house fire in Ellesmere Port this afternoon.

Three crews from the town's station and Powey Lane attended the scene at Conway Court at around 1.15pm on Tuesday (October 22).

On arrival they discovered there was a fire in a first floor bedroom which had begun to spread to the ground floor of the property.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Four firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

"Crews also isolated the gas and electric to the property and used a large fan to clear the smoke from the address.

"An investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched."

The town's police force tweeted: "There is an increased presence of Police and Fire fighters in the area of Conway Court, Stanney Grange at the moment, due to a house fire.

"Nobody was hurt in the incident and there is no danger to residents in the surrounding area. There are no road closures due to the incident."
