TENPIN at Cheshire Oaks has been relaunched as an entertainment centre of the future, following a transformation costing more than £1million.

The investment has seen the introduction of the latest pioneering technology and a host of new attractions, which were celebrated at a special VIP relaunch event on Wednesday, October 16.

The expansion of the site at Coliseum Leisure Park, Cheshire Oaks, has also created over 25 new jobs.

Customers using the tenpin bowling lanes will now benefit from new booth-type seating, new screens to help keep score, new bowling balls and a faster pin resetting system.

All 24 lanes now offer HyperBowling as well as traditional bowling. Hyperbowling sees players score high by bouncing the ball off coloured LED targets on the bumpers before striking the pins.

People can also try their hand at the latest Virtual Reality games such as Mario Kart Arcade VR, scale a brand new climbing wall and enjoy new pool tables, new table tennis tables and the latest arcade games, in the extended amusement section of the centre.

Houdini’s ‘escape rooms’ have now been installed which challenge people to work as a team to solve a series of puzzles in a given time and escape from Alcatraz. The centre also features a refurbished futuristic landscape, in which teams compete to beat their enemies, in the fun and fast-paced Sector 7 laser arena.

The entire venue has been redecorated and re-carpeted with new tables and seating all around the centre.

A new menu featuring a wide selection of food and drinks is now available with an on-lane service and a newly refurbished bar area.

Tenpin Cheshire Oaks general manager Louise Muir said: “We set about totally transforming the venue to enhance people’s enjoyment of the bowling experience and to give them a multi-attraction venue with lots of other activities to enjoy.

“We think the results are fantastic and we hope that our customers will agree. I look forward to welcoming them over the coming weeks.”

A VIP relaunch event was enjoyed by invited guests from local businesses, schools and sports clubs, who had the opportunity to experience everything Tenpin Cheshire Oaks now has to offer and took part in some special prize giveaways on the night.

Invited guest, The Mayor of Ellesmere Port, Michael Edwardson, cut a ribbon and bowled a ball down a lane to officially relaunch the centre, before experiencing some of the new attractions himself.
