DETECTIVES are appealing for information and footage from members of the public after a car was stolen as part of a burglary in Ellesmere Port.

Between 10.30pm on Tuesday, October 15 and 6.45pm on Wednesday, October 16, a house in Deeside, Whitby, was broken into while the occupants were sleeping.

Electrical devices were stolen from the property, as was a car parked on the driveway.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and detectives are urging anyone who was in the area and noticed anything suspicious to come forward.

They also want to speak to anyone with information or CCTV or dashcam footage regarding whoever committed the burglary or the white Chevrolet Trax car that they stole.

Detective Constable Kevin Cooper, of Ellesmere Port CID, said: “Burglary is a serious offence in which victims are targeted in their own home, which is the place they should be able to feel most safe.

“Being the victim of a burglary is always a deeply upsetting experience, and in this instance it was particularly traumatic as the victims were in the house when the incident occurred.

“We are determined to establish who carried out the overnight burglary and bring them to justice.

“Enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything that may be relevant to our investigation to get in touch.

“The same goes for anyone who believes they may know who committed the burglary, or have CCTV or dashcam footage of them or the car they stole.

“There are not many white Chevrolet Trax cars about. If you saw one leaving the area, or believe that you may know where the stolen vehicle is, please contact us at Ellesmere Port CID.”

Anyone with information or CCTV footage that may help detectives with their investigation should call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 540244, give the details via www.cheshire.police.uk/contact/general-enquiries or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
