GLOBAL folk collective Mishra will be visiting Chester next month as part of their Winter UK Tour.
Mishra describe themselves as a global folk “collective”. With strong roots in UK folk, they weave a tight web of intricate, Indian-influenced original music that defies genre labels.
Led by Kate Griffin’s voice and inimitable clawhammer banjo and driven by Ford Collier’s continent-hopping instrumental skills (Indian tabla, African calabash, Irish whistle and guitar).
Both Kate and Ford have been to India to study the music more closely.
“It was a huge inspiration to us,” says Ford.
“Kate's a very talented banjo player – the instrument virtually an extension of her!” said David O Hara, Cambridge Folk Festival.
Mishra play at St Mary’s Creative Space, St Mary’s Hill, Chester, on Friday, November 8. Doors open at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £13.20 and are available from www.wegottickets.com
