THE managing director of River Dee boat trip service ChesterBoat has announced its tours will stay afloat throughout the winter.

Operations will continue into November, December, and January 2020, in response to growing demand for leisure trips in the city, says veteran tour operator Brian Clarke.

Following a successful year, newly qualified skippers Ben Newell, Lisa Gostelow, and Jenny Taylor have joined the family firm, which has also invested in its flotilla of leisure boats.

Each of its three vessels were upgraded with new engines at the start of 2019, and ChesterBoat’s flag ship, The Lady Diana, has been refurbished ahead of the winter season.

Brian, who celebrated 40 years working on the River Dee this year, said: “Visitors are increasingly enjoying leisure breaks throughout all seasons. We have watched this trend with interest, and have seen a significant increase in enquiries to accommodate passengers during the winter.

“We have invested in our crew over the last 12 months, upgraded our pleasure boats, and felt the time was right to cover the winter season to meet demand.”

ChesterBoat’s tours offer a range of sightseeing and themed cruises, Christmas party nights including a licensed bar, and private chartered trips.
