IT'S six of the best for a Cheshire chef entrepreneur as all of Gary Usher's bistros, including Sticky Walnut in Chester, have been named in the Good Food Guide 2020.

The inclusion is a repeat success for Gary, who this time last year had all his restaurants – which numbered four back then – in the Good Food Guide 2019.

It comes as Channel 4 is airing a documentary on the opening of Pinion, Gary's fifth restaurant, tonight (Thursday, September 19).

The 2020 Waitrose and Partner’s Good Food Guide recognises the best food and drink establishments across the UK, according to cooking score, editor appraisal and feedback from readers.

Gary said: “I’m completely overwhelmed that all of the bistros have made the list and I really couldn’t be prouder.

"It’s all down to the team’s ridiculously hard work and the continuous support of our lovely guests. It’s a really big year for us at Elite Bistros and we’re looking forward to going from strength to strength.”

The news comes after it was announced Sticky Walnut was ranked at number 41 in Squaremeal’s Top 100 restaurants in the UK.

Gary’s fifth bistro, Pinion, which opened in Prescot in September 2018, is subject of Channel 4 documentary ‘The Rebel Chef: My Restaurant Revolution’, which airs at 10pm tonight (Thursday).

The hour-long programme, voiced by Ricky Tomlinson, follows Gary’s quest to open a new restaurant in one of Merseyside’s most overlooked town centres.
