Train services on the line between Chester and Shrewsbury have been suspended due to a person being  hit by a train near Wrexham

A British Transport Police spokesperson confirmed they had been called, along with paramedics, to the incident at Wrexham just before 4pm on Wednesday, September 18.

Transport for Wales wrote on social media: "Due to an incident between Chester and Shrewsbury, all lines are blocked.

"Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed.

"Disruption is expected until 6.30pm."

Bus replacement services are to be provided for rush-hour commuters.

A statement from National Rail says: "A person has been hit by a train between Wrexham General and Shrewsbury, blocking all lines.

"As a result of this, trains may be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes."

Just after 6pm, National Rail added the railway line had been fully reopened, but passengers should continue to expect delays and possible cancellations.
