THE Cecil Bowen Memorial Fund was delighted to be able to support Chester Boxers by supplying six pairs of youth training gloves which are already being put into action in children’s classes.

Chester Boxers, located in the Lightfoot Business Centre, is a registered charity with a proud heritage of helping children, young adults and more senior members of the local community.

It helps children with fitness, conditioning, confidence and social skills with a selection of classes each week.

Classes include boxing, wrestling, martial arts, self-defence and general fitness all of which are conducted in a safe, secure and stimulating environment.

The Cecil Bowen Memorial Fund was set up in September 2017 in loving memory of Cecil Bowen. The charity supports local residents in the Chester area.

Cecil was born inside the city walls in 1930 and was proud to be able to call himself a true Cestrian.

Cecil had several businesses in the local area and where possible tried to give something back to the local community. The charity aims to continue to do this since his passing, particularly in Handbridge, Hoole, Great Boughton and Boughton, where Cecil and his wife Mary lived in their lifetime.

Other examples of suitable causes the Cecil Bowen Memorial Fund is looking to donate to include mobility aids, sensory toys and equipment, communication aids, funding for a specific requirement that will support an assist an applicant in poverty and funding to allow applicants to take part in trips organised by groups such as schools or Scouts.
