TWO SMALL businesses are to open a high street shop in Flintshire following their success at a 'pop-up' shop.

The quirky scheme in Buckley shopping precinct saw an empty shop premises turned into market place for a number of small businesses to trade at one time.

The project - to help small businesses which generally operate on an online basis get a foothold on high street trading - has been a resounding success.

And so much so that two of the businesses that have been trading in the premises are opening their own shop together on Buckley high street.

Sharon Beck's Shaz's Shabby CHIC and Created for You Jewellery, a business specialising in hand-crafted personalised gifts, and Annemarie Sharp's Cowboys and Angels, which sells child's clothing, are opening the new premises on Saturday.

The Leader:

The Pop-up Shop is brainchild of Martin Evans - managing director of Flintshire Small Business Network (FSBN), which supports and facilitates the growth of small businesses in the area.

He said: "It's brilliant that two of the businesses that have featured predominately in the pop-up shop are opening their own shop together.

"This was the whole point of the venture, to help support small businesses so they can hopefully branch out and fill empty shops on our high streets.

"It's been shown at the pop-up shop that the products of Shaz's Shabby CHIC and Cowboys and Angels work well together, so it's great they're jointly opening a shop together."

The Leader:

And Martin hopes to open a new premises in the precinct in the coming weeks.

He added: "We're planning to open a new unit in the next three to four weeks, one unit will be for more pop-up shops to trade, and another for businesses to use as a workplace or somewhere to do demonstrations and the like."
