A MAN was captured on CCTV performing a sex act on a train station platform, a court heard.

Appearing from custody at North East Wales Magistrates’ Court in Mold, Kerri Leigh Evans, 24, admitted an offence of outraging public decency following the incident on August 28.

Justin Espie, prosecuting, said Evans was spotted by a CCTV operator at around 10.15pm at Wrexham Central where he could be seen rubbing himself while standing on the platform.

A female passenger was also on the platform at the time but she did not see the offence and it was reported to police officers by the CCTV operator.

Stephen Edwards, defending, said Evans, of Chapel Street, Wrexham, has “issues” and was “sorry and ashamed for his actions” as was his mother who was present in the court.

“Fortunately for him the lady on the platform was oblivious to what was going on,” said Mr Edwards, who added that his client could be seen “fiddling” with an “exposed” private part of his body.

“He suffers from psychosis and when he takes his medication he can hope fairly well,” continued Mr Edwards.

“When he doesn’t take his medication, this is the bizarre behaviour that occurs.

“There is no record of deviant behaviour and I believe this is a one off.”

Handing Evans a six month conditional discharge and ordering him to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £32, chair of the bench, Penny Rodgers, said: “I’m sure you know what you did was wrong and it is important you take your medication.”
