Sports fans in Chester were treated to the sight of one of English cricket's greatest players in action in the city.
All eyes were on pace bowler James Anderson - England's leading all-time wicket taker - who was playing for Lancashire Seconds at Chester Boughton Hall’s Filkins’ Lane ground as he attempted to prove his fitness for the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.
Anderson posed for a picture with a young fan before play got underway.
The 37-year-old is recovering from a calf injury which cut short his involvement in the Ashes opener at Edgbaston and ruled him out of the next two Tests at Lord's and Headingley.
Anderson, who returned in a friendly against a Leicestershire side last week, went wicketless in his opening spell against a Durham Second XI at Boughton Hall, although his six overs yielded just seven runs.
