THERE were smiles all round at The Whitby High School as students received their GCSE results.

Results across the school were said to have remained "high in many areas with increased and sustained attainment grades in many subjects".

Students' achievements in English and maths remained stable, as did the number of students achieving the EBacc qualification.

Headteacher Bryn Heeley: “I am extremely pleased with the results gained by our students particularly as the grading system continues to demonstrate the increased difficulty and rigour within examinations, grade boundaries were being changed by some examination boards as late as last week.

"The continued focus on the needs of the students at an individual level has continued to be successful and improve the life chances of our young people. Students and staff have worked extremely hard and should celebrate their successes – Congratulations to everyone for their achievements, well done."

Students who did particularly well were: Rachel Seymour, Daniel Taylor, Ella Proudlove, Lewis Todd, Wiktoria Mysera, Alexander Dodds, Matthew Price, Keira Southwood, Emma Cameron, Thomas Bartley, Lewis Todd and Jacob Mitchell.
