Vandals target Leeswood Bowling Club and Community Centre

The window of Leeswood Bowling Club has been smashed, while windows of the village's community centre have also damaged.

The bowling club's window was smashed using a brick, while the community centre's windows were damaged by stones.

The damage to the bowling club is believed to have occurred some-time between Monday evening and Tuesday's early hours, while the community centre was targeted on Saturday (August 17).

Leeswood Community Centre plays host to a number of groups and activities, including zumba classes, various coffee mornings, kids parties, bingo and the annual carnival competition and disco - where the prince, queen and rosebud of the summer carnival are chosen.

Cllr Ray Hughes, county councillor for Leeswood, has been angered by the incidents.

He said: "We're going to have to spend a lot of money repairing the windows, money can't afford to waste.

"It's very sad that people choose to do this sort of thing, and I'm really disappointed that we've been hit with this spate of vandalism and anti-social behaviour.

"We need to take a stand against them, we believe them to be teenagers - so are of an age where they should know better."

A North Wales Police spokesman confirmed police had received two reports of criminal damage - one at the bowling club club, and another at the community centre.

The spokesman said enquiries are ongoing.
