A FAMILY-FRIENDLY free festival is to take place at Whitby Park this weekend.

Annual community festival Port Fest 2019 will host a feast of activities on Sunday, August 25, from 11am-5pm.

Among the activities lined up for the event are a barbecue, bar, DJs, karaoke, dance troupes, face painting, glitter artists, tombola, raffles, candy floss, popcorn, a dog show with awards put on by Daff Dogs, a fun fair, an assault course and a bouncy castle slide.

Favourite mascots Mickey and Minnie Mouse will be at the park along with Minions and Peppa Pig, all in the children's zone.

Also making an appearance will be The London Experience in Whitby Park, including The London Bus from the 1960/70s.

For the adults, there will be a fully licensed bar including a Pimm's tent. Challenge 25 will be in operation.

Additionally, those who bring their own plastic glass or coffee cup will receive a discount of 25p every time.

Port Fest Events, the not-for-profit company behind the festival, will also will be supporting Action Transport Theatre, Community Rangers and The Oasis Centre and other charities in the form of stalls at the event.
