RESIDENTS and motorists are being warned to expect heavy rain across several areas of North Wales and Chester.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for rain across areas including Wrexham, Flintshire, Denbighshire and Chester.

It comes into effect at 8am on Friday and will last until 10pm.

According to the Met Office, spray and flooding on roads may make journey times longer, bus and train services could be affected with journey times taking longer and flooding of a some homes and businesses is possible.

A spokesman said: "Rain is expected to become widespread and heavy at times during Friday.

"Heavy rain may also coincide with peak travel times during the afternoon and early evening leading to difficult driving conditions on major routes.

"The heaviest rain is most likely over high ground, where some places may see 60-80 mm.

"Strong winds are also expected with 30-40 mph gusts likely around exposed coasts and hills."
