MILES of tailbacks are building on the M56 motorway between junction 14 (Hapsford Services) and junction 12 (Runcorn) following a two-vehicle collision this afternoon (Monday, August 12).
Highways officers have been deployed to the scene of the incident, believed to involve a collision between a car and a van, on the eastbound carriageway, with traffic going back towards junction 15.
The collision was reported to the ambulance service at 4.42pm.
Highways England has since reported that both vehicles have been recovered to the hard shoulder but there remains significant congestion for rush-hour commuters to contend with.
