FUNDRAISERS are being invited to seek new heights in aid of a Backford hospice.

The Hospice of the Good Shepherd's 10,000ft Tandem Skydive takes place on Saturday, September 7 and is said to be like no other challenge.

No experience is necessary and fundraisers will be jumping with a fully qualified instructor who will do all the work.

Katie Thomson, from Chester, is taking part in this year’s Tandem Skydive and has already raised over £500 for the Hospice.

She said: “I am doing the skydive because I am a Macmillan palliative care nurse at the Countess of Chester Hospital and I work closely with the hospice.

"I have also had relatives receive end of life care and my nan had complimentary therapies there while she was battling lung cancer.

“I’ve been on the fence about it myself for a long time and when I saw the opportunity to do it for the hospice I thought I’d go for it!

“I think that patients at the hospice are facing pretty scary stuff every day, so doing this one scary thing for them will help enormously, especially if I can raise lots of money in the process!”

The skydive has a registration fee of £70 with a minimum sponsorship of £395. People can book online via www.hospicegs.com or by calling 01244 851811.
