SEVERAL motorists have been handed tickets as part of a crackdown on speeding in Saltney.
The Leader reported on Monday how concerns were raised by residents about the speeding around the town, in particular around Sandy Lane.
Youth councillor Shaun Hingston said the speeding issues had "gripped" the community and were beginning to "scare residents".
Officers from North Wales Police's roads policing unit were out in Saltney to clamp down on speeding on Tuesday.
A spokesman said: "So far, tickets issued for speeding and one for no seatbelt. "We will continue to target those who do not adhere to the speed limits in that area and will continue to monitor."
Following the speed monitoring in Saltney, the team received information from automatic number plate recognition cameras regarding a possible drink driver.
The spokesman added: "Vehicle was stopped [on the] A55 [at] Broughton and the driver gave a roadside reading of 112, the legal limit being 35. Astonishing. Custody reading of 100."
