A FLINTSHIRE mum has spoken of the terrifying moment she found dozens of pieces of glass on the ramps of a skate park.
Mum-of-two Lois Hulme discovered the hazard on the ramps of a skate park in Brookes Avenue in Broughton on Tuesday morning,
It is not the first time that broken glass has been left in a play park, with the
Leader reporting on a similar finding on a climbing frame in Mynydd Isa earlier in the year.
Lois, whose two young children frequent the skate park, says she now fears for the safety of her's and other people's children.
She said: "The glass was all over the skate ramps and around it. The big chunks were easy to pick up but it was covered in tiny bits of shattered glass too which could have gone unnoticed but still caused major injury. Luckily I had wet wipes with me and was able to clear it all off.
"It's a big concern for me. I have two boys aged eight and nine, we regularly meet there with friends; kids of all ages play on those ramps - it could have been horrendous.
"It won't be too long before they'll want to go to the park without me but things like this will make it difficult for me to let them."
And Lois said the incident is particularly alarming with it being the summer holidays.
She added: "Whoever did it clearly didn't care about the safety of the children that play here. It is a very popular park especially through the summer holidays - it's such a shame people have such little respect for their community."
